On Thursday, January 29, Drakensberg Secondary School held its annual Speech and Awards Ceremony. Top honours went to the school’s best performing candidates in the 2014 National Senior Certificate Matriculation Examination. Shivana Bagrath did the entire community proud by securing the number one position in the Uthukela district. Shivana secured seven distinctions and the highest in all seven subjects thus winning the coveted Dux award as well as the Eskort Bacon Factory floating trophy.
She is currently reeling from euphoric exhaustion after attending a series of award ceremonies where she scooped some enviable prizes. Other learners who were acknowledged for academic and extra-curricular excellence is as follows:
