UPDATE: Fourth suspect arrested for KFC robbery

Four suspects are now in custody after their alleged involvement in the recent KFC robbery.

A fourth suspect believed to be involved in the KFC robbery has been arrested in Dannhauser.

The suspect was taken into police custody after he allegedly robbed a store in Springboklaagte, with four accomplices.

According to Constable Mfanafuthi Nyembe, Dannhauser police spokesperson,the suspects had stolen cellphones when the shop owner allegedly shot at them.

The men fled the scene when gunfire erupted.

Police were contacted, and after an extensive search, the suspect was found with the getaway vehicle used during the robbery.

He was found with two firearms and numerous cellphones, of which some allegedly belonged to KFC employees.

His accomplices apparently escaped.

After his arrest, it was discovered he was linked to the robbery at KFC.

The suspect has appeared in Dannhauser Magistrate Court and further investigations are under way.

“We are now searching for a second group of robbers who are operating in the Annieville, Ruthland and Allen areas who are also robbing business people, especially foreign nationals,” Constable Nyembe said.
