Glencoe Primary had their first term fun day on Friday, February 27. Mrs. Lloyd was the organiser and arranged a lot of sales for the children. The braaiwors kept the smells going and filled the tummies.
They took turns with the DVD shows in the hall when they took shelter from the occasional downpours. Mr Biyela and Mr Pretoruis entertained the children with pillow fighting and kept the day interesting. All the teachers pitched in to make the day a great success once again.
Cricket
Once again the boys took to the field to bat and complete their match against Ethangeni. They declared after 26 overs of play, making 102 runs for the loss of only 3 wickets.
Tyrell Griffiths made 33 runs not out and carried his bat through to the end. Kameshen Govender made 18 runs while Stian van Zyl made 17 runs not out. Glencoe won the match convincingly.
Rugby
They kicked off their first match of the season against Monument from Ladysmith during the Rugby day held in Glencoe. The boys put up a fight and showed true grit. Samkelo Buthelezi broke through and scored a try but that was all the points they could manage against a very strong opponent. Glencoe Primary lost 5 – 26. With the new team and the new coach the school knows that their boys will grow from strength to strength. The boys have all the speed and power to beat any team. Good luck for the rest of the season.
