Food for storm victims
Emergency relief aid was distributed in the form of 6 tents, 21 blankets, 1 food hamper and 9 plastic sheets.

This year the Wasbank and Nquthu areas were hit by strong winds. A total of 12 incidents were reported affecting 12 households and 65 people in the Endumeni district during the month of January this year. Emergency relief aid was distributed in the form of 6 tents, 21 blankets, 1 food hamper and 9 plastic sheets.
According to the Disaster Manager from Endumeni Municipality, Bonginkosi Zulu, the areas of Vumbuka, Kwa Mpukane and Ntibane were profiled, through the help of ward committees, after were affected by storm damage. Mr Zulu said 16 houses were profiled but most of the families did not want any tents or plastic.
Zulu said these families told them that they will be able to re-build their houses because they had built using mud.
They said they preferred to be donated food claiming that their groceries were washed away during the violent storm. Last Tuesday the Endumeni Disaster Management handed over food hampers to the families.
The food was donated by the council through the disaster budget. The Ward Councillor from Ward 6, Thoko Makaba and Councillor Bongiwe Mbatha were present to hand over the food. The hampers were bought from Super Spar in Dundee.
Mr Zulu also thanked other business people who assisting them during bad times including Siqu Zungu who did a lot for the welfare Endumeni residents.
