For most of us, chess is a sport we can’t fully understand and many find it boring.
However for three pupils from Newcastle High School, this is not true. They participated in a chess tournament in
association with the Amajuba Chess Association and the Jacob Zuma Chess Foundation.
On 19 December 2014, these girls obtained bronze medals from 11 districts!
They were also fortunate enough to meet the President himself, Mr Jacob Zuma.
The girls would like to thank everyone who made this trip possible, including their coach, Mr. G. Nenohwe, and team
manager, Mr. M. Nhlapo for their dedication and effort.
