Truck carrying imported motorbikes hijacked

6 motorcycles imported from Italy were stolen

Ladysmith police are appealing to the community to assist in tracing a truck-load of motorbikes stolen during a recent hijacking at Van Reenen.

On Saturday, March 7, a truck driver stopped at the Van Reenen Truck Stop and was confronted by three suspects. The suspects hijacked the truck and drove to the Bluebank area.

They then broke open the container and 6 motorcycles imported from Italy were stolen. The motorcycles are all marked on the petrol tank with the word “Beta”.

They are off-road motorcycles and are not available for sale in South Africa as yet. This stolen load was the first of its kind to arrive in the country.

If you have seen these motorcycles, you are requested to contact Major Jan Van Straten of Ladysmith SAPS on 036-638-3410/ 082-558-1091 or Crime Stop on 08600-10111.

All information received will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
