‘Cop’ kittens seek new homes
“It is not everyday one has the opportunity to adopt cop cats.”
The term to protect and serve has been taken to a whole new level by the police team on Woodgrange Street, Lennoxton.
Currently, the officers and office staff are caring for a cat and her four kittens.
The furry critters originally arrived as strays.
“I heard a noise outside the office a few weeks ago. When I went to look, I found the mother cat and she had climbed into the lawnmower’s bin and gave birth to four kittens,” said Sylvia Claase, a staff member.
Mrs Claase arranged for a box and blanket to keep the feline family comfortable.
Five weeks have since passed and Mrs Claase said the cat and kittens have become part of the office. “When the older cat first arrived, she was horribly thin and neglected. Now she is a healthy Garfield. We actually intend to keep her now and have taken her to the vet, Tom Cilliers, who will be sterilising her for us.”
While the cat’s future has been planned, the kittens need a home.
“We are looking for good families to adopt the kittens. It is not everyday one has the opportunity to adopt cop cats,” Mrs Claase said.
