More than 6 000 matriculants attended the recent Amajuba Grade 12 Motivation Tour.
The event took place at Newcastle Show Grounds and was hosted by Amajuba District Municipality in conjunction with Amathole Funerals.
The initiative partnered with the Department of Education and other stakeholders to assist matriculants in dealing with challenges hindering their academic progress. Topics discussed included social ills, coping with academic commitments, career guidance, access to bursaries, study courses offered by Amajuba TVET and other youth related issues.
“As the government, it is our responsibility to ensure that you have access to academic opportunities. We are not doing you any favours, as this is in compliance with the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. We want the best out of you,” said Jabu Khumalo, Mayor of Amajuba District.
