Boy (14) shot in leg while playing with gun

On assessment, paramedics found that the patient had sustained a gunshot to his thigh.

A 14-year-old is in a serious condition, this morning, after he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg at a residence in the rural area of Douglas near Wasbank

ER24 paramedics arrived at the residence and were ushered into one of the bedrooms were they found the young patient.

On assessment, paramedics found that the patient had sustained a gunshot to his thigh.

Paramedics treated the patient for his injuries as well as providing him with advanced life support. Once treated, the patient was transported to a hospital in Ladysmith for further treatment.

It is understood that the patient was playing with the firearm when it accidently went off.

Local authorities were contacted for further investigations.
