Police investigate stabbing of Newcastle businessman

The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck and back.

Newcastle SAPS are investigating the stabbing of a 53-year-old businessman in the Riverside Industrial Area.

According to Amajuba District SAPS spokesperson Constable Nonjabulo Langa, the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 6, at around 15:10.

“Upon arrival at the scene, members were informed that the victim had already been transported to Mediclinic for medical treatment,” she said.

No arrests as yet

Langa explained that officers then proceeded to the hospital to obtain a statement from the victim.

“However, they were unable to do so, as he was still receiving medical attention,” she said.

Officers established that the victim had sustained several stab wounds to his back and neck.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motive for the stabbing and the identity of the suspect, are still unknown at this stage and will remain subject to further police investigations,” Langa concluded.
