Leaving no mother behind

Mother's Day is the one day in the year when people honour their mothers and all they do with much love and care.

Mother’s Day is the one day in the year when people honour their mothers and all they do with much love and care.

While many celebrated the day on Sunday, Leave No Girl Behind International’s (LNGBI) power circles from Amajuba High School, St Dominic’s Academy and Lincoln Heights Secondary School celebrated the day earlier than usual.

Last Wednesday, the three power circles visited NOFTA and entertained members with dances, poetry readings and songs.

According to Hasseena Patel, co-founder of LNGBI, the day was organised to show senior citizens that they were not forgotten.

“It was held to celebrate Mother’s Day and senior citizens who are mothers,” she said.
