The amazing animals at the SPCA now have a bit more comfort while they wait for new loving homes, thanks to the National Lottery Board.
The money received from the Lotto has gone into refurbishing the boarding kennels as well as the dog and cat adoption kennels.
That means that pets waiting for their owners to return, or furry friends looking for a new home, can wait in comfort.
The money has also gone into building two new structures which will greatly improve the job done by the SPCA.
The first of the new structures is the isolation block.
Stray animals picked up, or surrendered to the SPCA will first be placed in the isolation block where they will be thoroughly checked for any health scares.
This will help prevent the spread of any diseases which could spread to the other animals.
The second new structure is the brand-new receiving kennels at the entrance of the premises.
People wanting to drop off animals at the SPCA after hours, can now put them in the receiving kennels, locking it behind them.
With food and water in the kennels, the animals are safe, sound and well fed while they wait for the staff to take them out the next morning.
The new kennels now provide a more humane way of leaving animals at the SPCA without the risk of hurting them.
Thanks to the donation from the Lotto, life is a bit easier for the SPCA.
However, the SPCA runs on donations from kind-hearted individuals and companies in the area and does not receive any money from the government.
The public are encouraged to support them and help make a difference in the lives of defenceless animals.
