8 things you need to know about Endumeni
Whether you're a resident or visitor, you need to know these things about Endumeni.
Inspired by a Zululand Observer article, which focused on 8 steps to survive Zululand, we’ve decided to find 8 things which any visitor and resident should note about Endumeni.
1 – Always have loose change
Between the car guards in town and the parking meters that are still in existence, you always need loose change handy when driving through.
2 – You can park anywhere
When it comes to parking, we are very liberal. Park straight or across the lines, at an angle or even on the pavement. Just switch on your hazard lights and you’re forgiven.
3 – Don’t get sick
You know things are bad when the local hospital has more complaints than it has medicine. If you want to avoid hospital staff who don’t care, don’t catch any bugs.
4 – We sign anything
Need a tender form signed? Then pop into the municipality and they’ll be sure to sign it for you. From money spent on Nandos and KFC to a new mayoral car and office chair, saving money is a thing of the past.
5 – An explosive place to be
Don’t be alarmed if you see sniffer dogs roaming the streets. They’re just checking for bombs threatened to have been placed in businesses. With a constant supply of threats coming in, there’s always something explosive happening.
6 – Bring your own water
If it’s not load shedding, it’s water shedding, so make sure to carry your own water with you. Â Also, never start a fire anywhere, as there is never water to put it out.
7 – Our ladies are friendly
You may consider carrying an extra jacket at night. This is not because the weather gets cold, but more because there’s a lot of young girls on the side of the road who never seem to wear too much of clothing. They are very friendly though.
8 – Don’t bring your own books
You don’t need to bring reading material when coming here. There are plenty of books dumped at the nearby recycling centre just waiting to be picked up. There’s some real literary classics as well.
