Sarel’s action packed Derby Day
Action packed rugby, netball and other sporting fun at the Derby Day.

The Derby Day held on May 30 was action-packed and exciting and the results are as follows:
Chess against Dundee High
On Saturday Sarel Cilliers played against Dundee High School. They ended the season on a high note by winning six of the 10 games they played. “Well done and a big thank you for all your hard work,” to T Zulu, S Tooray, S Msane, N Ndala, N Buthelezi and L Zulu.
Hockey against Dundee High
Results for the games played against Dundee High School:
First Girls : 1 – 2 First Boys : 0 – 2; Second Girls : 1 – 2; second Boys : 0 – 1.
U/16 Girls : 0 – 1; U/14 Girls : 0 – 3.
Sarel thanked their supporters during the season and all their sponsors for the skirts and bags.
Rugby against Dundee
A wonderful atmosphere was created by learners and their parents during the Derby day which made the day even more successful. Even though the junior teams made Sarel proud with the way they played, they lost their games. The results being U/14 : 17 – 19 and the U/15 : 14 – 17. The U/16 team had a tough battle, but managed to draw the game 12 – 12, thus ensuring the league. Well done to those boys!
“The second team was in a rampant mood and completely white-washed their opponents by winning 115 – 0,” Sarel remarked.
The first team stuck to their game plan and executed it well to defeat their old rivals scoring 85 – 0.
Well done to all our boys and their parents for making a success of this season.
Netball
Sarel Cilliers had their last netball games for the 2015 season. The Derby day proved to be very exciting. All the teams did their best and Sarel would like to thank all the teachers, coaches and referees who sacrificed their afternoons and Saturdays to coach all the teams and accompany them to the various matches and tournaments. Sarel also thanked all the players for their hard work and dedication throughout the season. “Well done girls, you did your school proud!”
The scores were as follows: U14A: 14-14, U14B: 12-3, U15A: 13-7, U16A: 13-7, U16B: 19-9 ,2nd: 7-18, 1st: 15-11.
Hockey- KZN
Congratulations to Georgia Viljoen who was chosen for the U/16 KZN Country District team. She will represent KZN during the July holiday in Potchefstroom and Sarel wishes her good luck.
