Blood donors are special people. They use their own time and blood to donate without receiving any compensation.
Their generosity was awarded when the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) held a special thank you luncheon at Battlefields Country Lodge. Phelelani Mkhize, KZN Zone Manager with the SANBS, thanked the local volunteers and said that Northern KZN leads the way when it comes to blood donations.
In April this year, the area collected 115% of blood from its donor population with Dundee High School the leading school in the province when it comes to blood donations.
“By being a blood donor you are encouraging yourself to lead a healthy lifestyle,” said Mr Mkhize.

Robbie said he first went to the clinic in Dundee all those years ago because he ‘just wanted to help’ and has never stopped helping!
“It is a nice thing to do. It is also great thatSANBS have thanked us in this way – what a wonderful gesture,” he said.
