Praying for rain

KwaZulu-Natal is facing one of the worst droughts in approximately 20 years and the dry spell is far from over.

KwaZulu-Natal’s Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube urged residents to cut water consumption in an attempt to avoid a water shortage.

Furthermore, with dam levels dropping, agricultural will be negatively affected if the dry season does not end soon.

Compelled by the persistent drought, Nofta members and devotees from Paradise Hindu Temple met at the Weir last Thursday to pray for rain.

The rain prayer is an annual event, where devotees offer up prayers to the Divine Mother and perform a hawan in hopes of bringing the rains.
