They distributed clothes and shoes as well as a warm meal.

They said that the families who live here are often forgotten, so they aim to bring relief to these communities once a month.

 

Food for Life team distributes hot dogs

To commemorate Mandela Day, the Estcourt Food for Life branch distributed meat free hot dogs in the taxi rank on Saturday. This donation was made possible by a donation from Adviceworx. The Food for Life team would like to thank all donors and hope that the community opens their hearts and wallets to support this project.

The spirit of Mandela Day was alive when Sharp Saverite Supermarket embarked on a community project in the Mooi River district. Deserving residents received cooking utensils.

Mini makeover at Shepstone Place

Shepstone Place Home for the Aged underwent a mini makeover on Thursday, July 16.

Umtshezi Municipality Mayor Bongani Dlamini and staff members visited the Home and set about painting and tidying up the garden.

This was one of the municipality’s Mandela Day initiatives.

A sweet treat for Project Life

In recognition of Mandela Day, Fahima (5), Fathima (7) and Feroz (10) visited the children at Project Life on Monday morning. They took with them sweet treats for a morning tea and spent time talking to the students.

On the road to repair

Relief for 87-year-old Sikhombana Mchunu came on July 15 when Umtshezi Municipality’s civil department graded a road leading to his dilapidated shack in Wembezi’s C-Section.

Mr Mchunu has been requesting assistance from the municipality since last year. His biggest dream is to have a decent home he can call his own.

Another of his wishes was that the road to be home be graded and this came true last Wednesday. This project was part of the civil department’s 67 minutes for Mandela Day.
