Update: Gun-wielding taxi drivers open Helpmekaar Road

Helpmekaar Road has now been cleared, after angry protesters blocked the road with burning tyres and rocks this morning (Saturday).

Taxi drivers allegedly pointed firearms at strikers and managed to open a portion of the road.

POP (Public Order Policing) officers have been deployed in large numbers.

Steadville, Tsakane, is still blocked by protesters.

The Roosboom and Pieters roads are still blocked.
