Saving the rhino with Rhino Art

In a quest to save the rhino species from extinction, Phuma Nathi Motel hosted a rhino conservation and fund-raising event in conjunction with Rotary last Wednesday evening.
Nature lovers supported the worthy initative, and were educated by conservationist, Grant Fowlds from Rhino Art.
Mr Fowlds’s presentation focused on the increase of rhino poaching over the past decade; an increase which threatened the very existence of the species.
Rotarian, Preethum Rughoonanan from Phuma Nathi Motel, said the event was to raise funds for Mr Fowlds’s cause and to show Newcastle’s support.
“It was a way of putting Newcastle on the map in the sense that while we are an industrial town, we also care deeply about the fauna and flora of our country.”
With approximately 80 people attending the function, the evening was well supported.
