Protesters continue to burn tyres in Roosboom

Protesters in Roosboom continue to burn tyres and block the road leading towards Ladysmith.

Thick clouds of black smoke can be seen hanging in the air as you leave town from the RTI side.

The protesters are trying to burn down the bridge by setting tyres alight on the road and even under the bridge.

The Roosboom road (R103) is completely closed as a result.

RTI officers are on the R103 Bergville road, directing traffic flow away from the Roosboom protests.

Due to the burning tyres, a rondavel caught alight and the Fire Department could not respond due to the dangerous situation caused by the protesters.
