Update: 6 dead in N11 crash

The collision involved a car and a truck at the Driefontein turn-off, about 2km from Ladysmith

KZN Emergency Medical Services paramedics are at the scene of a major accident on the N11, in Northern KZN.

There has been a collision involving a car and a truck on the N11 between Ladysmith and Newcastle. The exact location of the crash is the Driefontein turn-off, about 2km from Ladysmith.

Sadly, 6 people have tragically passed away in this crash (two men and four women). KZN EMS paramedics, together with paramedics from a private ambulance service, treated 3 people who survived the initial impact of the collision. 1 of these patients is a woman who is critically injured. This while 2 men, who were occupants of the truck, sustained serious and minor injuries respectively.

The paramedics worked together to treat the injured patients at the scene, before they were transported to hospital for continued medical care.

The cause of the crash, which left the road closed, is being investigated by police.
