Deon van Jaarsveldt is recovering well, all things considered.
After a collision with a bakkie while heading off on lunch break on his bicycle, his mother Elaine confirmed his injuries were healing well.
Sadly though, Deon is now without employment. In a follow-up from last week’s article, Gracious Maswanganyi, manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, Stakeholder and Communications for ArcelorMittal’s Newcastle Works confirmed the vehicle involved in the collision did belong to the works.
“The accident was reported to the relevant authorities,” she commented. Stating medical assistance for Deon had been sought, Mrs Maswanganyi said the circumstances of the collision remained under investigation, and in that respect, ArcelorMittal would refrain from commenting further.
“We wish the young man a speedy recovery,” she concluded.
