Update: Umtshezi Municipal strike continues

At this present moment a closed council meeting is being conducted by council at the Golf Course, with the aim of settling some of the demands made

The Umtshezi Municipal strike, which erupted yesterday morning (August 26), continues.

At this present moment a closed council meeting is being conducted by council at the Estcourt Golf Club, with the aim of settling some of the demands made by municipal employees.

The strike which is in its second day has resulted in a disruption of various municipal services.

Residents and local business people who depend on municipal services are dissatisfied and hope that the strike comes to end soon.

It is alleged that municipal employees want two members of municipal management to be demoted from the positions they hold, and this is said to be one of the main reasons for the strike action.
