uThukela security guards employed under Wise Security are desperately unhappy after allegedly going four months without receiving their salaries. They say their last payment was made in July.

Municipality allegedly cites financial constraints

According to workers who reached out to the Ladysmith Gazette, they have been told that the district municipality does not have funds available to pay them.

The situation has reportedly left the guards concerned about their financial well-being, as they continue to face uncertainty over when they will be paid.

The workers have raised concerns about not having money as the December festive period approaches.

Municipality contacted for comment

uThukela was contacted for comment regarding the allegations and the reported non-payment of the security guards’ salaries, but had not responded at the time of publishing this article.

The workers are demanding clarity on when their outstanding payments will be settled.
