Petrol price to drop by 69 cents a litre

This is the second consecutive fall in price after petrol dropped 51 cents a litre and diesel by 76 cents a litre at the beginning of August

Motorists will be happy to hear that the price of petrol will be dropping again.

The fuel price will decrease by 69 cents a litre, while diesel will drop by 54 cents from next week, the Energy Department revealed in a statement on Friday. Illuminating paraffin will fall by 55 cents a litre when the new prices kick in on Wednesday.

The price of LPG will drop by R1.15 per kilogram.

This is the second consecutive fall in price after petrol dropped 51 cents a litre and diesel by 76 cents a litre at the beginning of August. The latest decrease is a result of falling international crude prices.

The drop in fuel price is good news for inflation, as goods will cost less to transport and it is hoped that this will lead to a decrease in the price of food and other goods.
