Update: Councillor out on bail for dagga possession
The case was remanded to September 28

The Bergville councillor who was arrested yesterday morning (Wednesday) for dealing in dagga is out on bail.
Ladysmith CSC Sector Policing officers were patrolling in the CBD on Wednesday morning when they spotted a suspicious-acting person driving a vehicle. Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, police found 41kg of dagga packed in five bags.
The estimated street value of the dagga is around R82,000.
The 33-year-old man (whose name is known to the Gazette, but can’t be named until his plea) appeared briefly in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today and was granted bail of R4000. The case was remanded to September 28.
