Vryheid High School – Producer of ‘Die Pro’ hails from VHS
Tiaan van Niekerk, ex-prefect at VHS, started his career in drama on the VHS stage!
‘DIE PRO,’ waarmee P de Villiers in 1997 die Sanlam-boekeprys vir jeugliteratuur gewen het, sal die eerste Afrikaanse fliek wees waarin branderplankry die tema is.
Dit is deur Tiaan van Niekerk, een van die prent se vervaardigers in ‘n rolprent omgeskep. Tiaan van Niekerk, ex-prefect at VHS, started his career in drama on the VHS stage! The premiere of this film was held in Sandton on September 3 and the film will be launched on the big screen on September 18. We are very proud of Tiaan and his achievements!
World Knowledge Olympiad: Congratulations to all the learners who participated in the above Olympiad. The grade winners are as follows: Gr 8 – Aliya Paruk and Sihawukede Myeni; Gr 9 – Benjamin Chukwu; Gr10 – DC Klynsmith; Gr 11 – Jameelah Eckersley and Gr 12 – Sahar Hariri. Sahar is the overall winner at VHS and the recipient of the World Knowledge floating trophy that will be handed out at the academic prize giving.
Leaders 2016: On Monday, August 31, 46 new leaders were elected for 2016. These young, ambitious learners, under the leadership of Mrs K Feather, are destined for greatness. We trust that they will uphold and honour our school and its traditions. Congratulations and good luck, leaders! Wear those badges with pride and always set a good example.
On behalf of Mrs Feather and the leaders, a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Mrs Nieuwenhuizen, who is now handing over the reins to Mrs Feather. Mrs Nieuwenhuizen’s years of hard work and dedication were motivation for exemplary leadership.
