Mountain rescue at Drakensberg Sun, 1 dead
A teenager was found to have sustained slight injuries, while an elderly man was declared dead

Sharaj Ambulance Services and a search & rescue K9 chopper were involved in a daring mountain rescue at Drakensberg Sun this afternoon.
Hikers were about 20 to 30 metres up the cliff when trouble struck. Sharaj Mountain Rescue were first on scene and they were soon joined by the K9 Search & Rescue chopper.
2 hikers made their way out this morning. Hours later, it is believed that 1 of them, an elderly man, started to feel ill. Accompanying him was a teenager, who is believed to have raised the alarm.
When Sharaj medics and rescue personnel reached the hikers, the teenager was found to have sustained slight injuries. However, the elderly companion was declared dead.
Rescue personnel are still securing the scene.
