Revving it up for the motor show
Northern Natal Motorsport will host its second annual motor show at the Newcastle Show Grounds on October 17 at 10am.
Suicide rides, shows, sounds and spinning; all the ingredients for a mind-blowing motor show.
Northern Natal Motorsport will host its second annual motor show at the Newcastle Show Grounds on October 17 at 10am.
“All funds raised will be donated to CANSA Newcastle,” said event organisers, Faizel and Razia Cassim.
The following categories will be open to entrants:
Show and shine:
– 1970s and below.
– 1980s.
– 1990s.
– 2000s.
– 2010s.
– Bakkies (Minimum of 5 vehicles to open the class).
Sound:
– Rookie (1), rookie (2) and rookie (3).
– Stock (1), stock (2) and stock (3).
– Advanced (1) and advanced (2).
– Ultimate (1).
– No sub class.
– Sedan rookie (1) and (2). A minimum of four entrants are required to open the class.
– Bakkie uncut and cut (Minimum of four entrants to open the class).
– Bass boxing rookie.
– Bass boxing stock.
– Bass boxing advanced.
The entrance fee for each category is as follows:
– Show n Shine: R100 per vehicle.
– Sound competition: R100 for two runs. Any additional run will cost R50 each.
In addition, motoring fanatics will have the opportunity of a lifetime; a suicide ride with the best of the best. The cost is R100 per person, per ride.
Spinners from the following groups will take to the tar on the day:
– Newcastle Oval Track.
– Sunshine Motors (Dundee).
– 360 Boys (Dundee).
– Yizo-Yizo (Ladysmith).
“Unfortunately the quota is full. No other spinners can enter,” said Mrs Cassim.
The following trophies for individuals will be up for grabs:
– Best engine bay.
– Lowest ride.
– Best paint.
– Best interior.
– Best mags.
– Best sound installation.
“Teams from Estcourt, Pietermaritzburg, Ladysmith Johannesburg, Dundee and Glencoe will be in attendance.”
The organisers confirmed a crew from 1KZNTV would cover the event. The date of the broadcast will be made available at a later stage.
“We would appreciate it if our local car enthusiasts would come out in full force and represent Newcastle,” concluded Mrs Cassim.
The entry fee is only R20 per person. Entry is free for children under the age of six.
