Michaelis Schulle – Tennis aces at Michaelis
The junior schools of Vryheid would like to thank the Vryheid Lawn Tennis Club for the use of their facilities. A word of thanks also goes to the players and their parents who make the time to come to the practices on Mondays. Please keep playing during the holidays, because we will resume play once the schools have reopened in January 2016.
ON Monday, October 19, our junior tennis players attended the Vryheid Tennis Tournament.
All the players who have attended the practice sessions on Mondays could participate in the tournament. The five boys played in a round robin against one another, while the girls were divided into two groups. Marlie Smit and Leah Vonkeman were the winners of the stronger group. The best players, Daniela Vonkeman and Kayla Olivier from the second group, had to challenge the other players in the stronger group. Keegan Gevers, who is only in Grade 3 was the winner of the boys’ tournament. Keegan is the youngest boy who has managed to win the trophy thus far. Well done Keegan, we are proud of you!
Before Marlie and Leah played against one another, they had both won the same amount of games. The girls gave of their best, but in the end it was Leah Vonkeman who won the tournament! Fantastic Leah, you have done us proud!
