Crocodile spotted in river near Colenso

When the farmers measured the monster croc's spoor, it was 1.6m wide from left to right foot!

A 4-metre-long crocodile has been spotted on the farm Bridle Drift, about 3km from Colenso. The farmhouse is on the banks of the Tugela River and overlooks the river.

A farm worker was in the garden when he saw the crocodile slowly drift by.

At first, he thought it was a tree stump, but was shocked when the stump suddenly started swimming!

He called the farmer, Bertie Pretorius, and his wife Sandra.

Bertie’s brother-in-law, Herman Basson (who resides on the farm), also saw the majestic creature.

They all estimated the crocodile to be about 4 metres long.

They managed to take a few photographs of the croc…

This is not the first sighting of crocodiles in the Tugela River and on another farm, a staff member saw a massive crocodile on land last week.

He said it was longer than a bakkie and stood higher than the quad motorcycle he was on!
