Michaelis School – October Dance always a hit
There was a fantastic atmosphere as the evening got off to a festive start with a parade and dancers. Some of the guests arrived in their traditional German wear, while others were quite content just enjoying the music, food and beer.

ON Friday, October 23, Michaelis School hosted their annual October Dance.
The hall was decked in red and white and suspended from the ceiling was a giant wreath, adorned in red and white ribbons. There was a fantastic atmosphere as the evening got off to a festive start with a parade and dancers. Some of the guests arrived in their traditional German wear, while others were quite content just enjoying the music, food and beer.
We would like to thank all our generous sponsors for their loyal support as well as the community of Vryheid and surrounds who always come and support this fundraiser. We would also like to thank all the parents who always work so hard at this event. We look forward to having you all on board again next year.
Tennis: Tuesday, October 27, marked the last tournament of the year for our tennis players. The three German schools: Michaelis, Lüneburg and Wittenberg played against each other at the Vryheid Lawn Tennis Club. Although it was drizzling in the morning, we decided to start with the tournament as soon as the much needed rain stopped.
The players were excited and eager to start playing as the courts dried. We started with the singles followed by the doubles and mixed doubles matches. The players could not wait for their turn to play. All the parents enjoyed watching their children play and improve. Congratulations to Lüneburg who won the tournament but well done to our Michaelis girls who won the trophy for the best girls’ team. We are proud of you girls, you were always eager and enthusiastic to play.
Thank you to all the parents who support and encourage their children. A special word of thanks also goes to the Vryheid Lawn Tennis Club who allow us to use their courts and facilities. Players please keep on playing tennis in the holiday and we are looking forward to next year when we will continue playing tennis on Monday afternoons.
