Crime report boxes -use them
According to Major Mbatha, the purpose of these boxes is so that locals can report any criminal activity that may be going on around town anonymously.
VRYHEID SAPS’ Major Mbatha would like to encourage all locals to make use of the crime reporting boxes situated in three different areas around town.
According to Major Mbatha, the purpose of these boxes is so that locals can report any criminal activity that may be going on around town anonymously.
“Some community members usually fear reporting crime issues around their community with the belief that the SAPS will expose them or that they lives will be in danger,” said Mbatha.
The aim of these boxes is for community members to help the police continue the fight against crime effectively.
“Community members are the ones who live with these criminals in their communities, they know better than the police where and how these crime perpetrators operate and this is why their assistance is of great importance,” he went on.
Community members are encouraged to make use of any of the three, crime reporting boxes by writing fully detailed letters regarding the crime activities they would like the police to investigate.
The first box is at Vryheid Taxi Plaza where Ithala Bank was situated, the second is at Spar on the corner of East and Utrecht Streets and the third is at the corner of Checkers and PEP in Bloemnel Centre.
