Family devastated after three beloved pets are poisoned by cruel thieves

A Head Street family have been left devastated after three of their much-loved Doberman Pinchers died after being poisoned. Thinus ‘Lappies; Labuschagne said the brazen thieves removed a section of his precast wall that borders a servitude behind his house.
“When I woke up on Sunday morning I found my three dogs dead. My Boerbul had also been poisoned but managed to survive after he was treated by a vet. The three little dogs had been fed mince laced with poison,” he told the Courier.
It is believed the thieves used Temik or ‘Two-Step’ (so-called as it kills an animal instantly – after it has taken only two steps) mixed with the mince. The poison is sold openly at the taxi rank.
Lappies called the police who believe that the burglars were after his motorbike. Ironically, despite all their trouble, nothing was taken from 6 Head Street even those his vehicles were in the yard. It appears they just wanted the motorbike which fortunately they did not get.

But for the Labuschagne family, the tragic death of their dogs is far more important. “On Saturday we celebrated our twin daughters’ sixteenth birthday. Everyone was so happy. We went to bed and at about 3am I heard my dogs barking.

The Boerbul was just lying down. So I told the dogs to quieten down and went back to bed. Imagine my horror when I got up on Sunday morning to find all three dogs dead and the Boerful sick. It was awful. The one Doberman Pincher has been with us for 18 years. The one female dog was pregnant. Everyone was in tears when I buried them.”
There were also two dead hadadas on the property. The police were called in and warned that there have been several incidents of dog poisoning in the town.
