A driver of a vehicle that was behind them was not anticipating the sudden activity and as a result hit one of the little boys.

What would have been a wonderful morning was fast turned into a tragedy for two little boys who were cycling home from school on Wednesday morning.

The two friends had just been to Lucas Meyer School to fetch their report cards and were on their way home where happy parents awaited them and had promised them a meal at Spur, when one of them was hit by a car.

It is alleged that the boy had been riding along the pavement in Landrost Street and suddenly veered onto the road.

The driver of the vehicle that was behind them had not anticipated the sudden activity and as a result hit the little boy.

The 10 year-old sustained a broken rib and torn left calf muscle and was attended to by the Kwazulu Private Ambulance Emergency Services paramedics.
According to paramedics from Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service, the boy is in a stable but serious condition and needed to be taken to a facility immediately.
