Schools take honours in matric exams

Local schools take top honours - please let us know how your school did in the area!

Dundee High School received a matric pass rate of 97.7%.

Among the top students in Umzinyathi District are Dundee High’s  Atiyyaah Ameen, Sadiyah Malek and Jehan Ebrahim who are currently in Durban attending a programme with the Education MEC and other top matriculants in the Province.

Simone Miller scored a whopping 7A’s  and plans to study Child Psychology at the University of Potchefstroom.

Simone says she was overjoyed when she received her results. “By 2am I had already called half of Dundee to tell them what happened,” she exclaimed.

She is looking forward to ‘making something’of herself. “I am very excited. This is a new beginning,” she said with excitement.

 

Sarel Cilliers achieves 85% pass rate

Sarel Cilliers High School’s Class of 2015 achieved a pass rate of 85%.  Top student was Ayesah Rawat who scored six A symbols and a C.  Other top candidates were Solidus Nxumalo, 7 As and Mhleli Mkhonzia, 6A’s and a B.

Of the 171 matrics who sat for the exams, 142 passed.  The matrics achieved 100 A symbols.  It was the maths one paper, algebra, that tripped up many candidates, commented deputy principal, Ludwig van Jaarsveld.
