BREAKING NEWS: Six injured after house collapses

It is speculated heavy rainfall in the area resulted in the house collapsing on its occupants.

Six people were seriously injured in Emxhakeni, five kilometers from Utrecht, after their house collapsed on them.

Spokesperson of KwaZulu Natal Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Robert McKenzie, said the incident occurred at approximately 10pm last night.

“It is not clear what caused the house to collapse. However, it was said there were heavy rains in the area, which could have resulted in the home collapsing.”

An 11-year-old child is reportedly among those injured in the incident.

EMS paramedics stablilised the patients on scene, before rushing them to Madadeni Provincial Hospital for further care.

The sixth patient was taken to Utrecht Hospital.
