Worms flow into resident’s bathtub
A resident was recently shocked after worms oozed into her bathtub.
A routine bath on Wednesday morning, February 17, turned into a skin crawling experience for Wendy Calitz, when worms oozed out of her bathroom tap.
Barry Hertzog Park residents endured water cuts during the course of the week, due to repair work being done on a burst pipe.
Like other residents in the suburb, Mrs Calitz was thrilled when the water supply returned.
“I suspect it was because the water was off for so long and I might have been one of the first people to switch my taps on,” she said.
Shocked at the sight of the worms, Mrs Caltiz removed them from her bath before taking a photograph and posting about it on social media.
“I wanted people to be cautious and aware of what had happened to me. How often do people actually check their water when filling the kettle to make themselves coffee?”
While perturbed by the sight, Mrs Calitz said the municipality contacted her shortly after she posted the images on social media.
“I must really thank Nqobile Zulu who came to my house to check and she said if it were to continue, I should contact her. I also want to thank Julie Muir for her assistance,” Mrs Calitz concluded.
