Successful convictions by Estcourt police
Both the accused were sentenced within nine days of their arrest

Estcourt police have recently recorded convictions in two robbery cases. On January 28 a business premises in Estcourt was robbed by four gun wielding men.
The men took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. An investigation was launched and five days later, Estcourt detectives arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery. One of those arrested was a security guard who had been guarding at the same premises.
They both appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty to the crime.
A 33-year-old accused was sentenced to three years imprisonment and a 29-year-old accused was sentenced to seven years imprisonment which was suspended for five years.
Both the accused were sentenced within nine days of their arrest. Police are still continuing their investigation into the whereabouts of the other suspects.
In another incident that occurred last year on February 26, two men accused of common robbery were recently sentenced after being found guilty of common robbery.
The accused snatched a bag from a pedestrian and ran. They were arrested by quick acting police officers a short while later. Lungisane Khuzwayo, aged 27, will spend two-and-a-half years behind bars and Mfundo Goodman Mkhize, aged 27, will spend three years in prison.
