TECH: Facebook introduces new emotions
Need more than just a 'like'? Facebook has the answer.
Sometimes a ‘like’ just isn’t enough.
We’ve all had those moments, when the uncertainty about liking a certain status or article could be seen as insensitive.
New Facebook ‘reactions’ are convey feelings correctly. As of February 24, users can hover over the ‘like’ button (mobile users can hold down ‘like’), which opens a menu featuring six animated emoji reactions. These are: Like, Love, Wow, Angry, Sad or Haha.
According to the Facebook Newsroom, the reaction emojis were added to give users ‘more ways to share your reaction to a post in a quick and easy way’. Facebook continued to say this feature was a result of extensive surveys and focus groups.
“We have been testing reactions in a few markets since last year, and have received positive feedback so far. Today, we’re excited to offer it to everyone who uses Facebook around the world.”
