Crime does not pay

Dannhauser Police continue to crack down on crime and recently secured a life sentence for one such criminal.
Be Khulu (46) of Verdriet Farm, Dannhauser was sentenced to life in prison for murder and received 15 years for robbery in the Newcastle Regional Court on February 18.

Khulu was found guilty of murdering and robbing Somane Tabete (68) at his Normandien home. The court heard that the deceased was alone at his home when he was attacked by Khulu who repeatedly struck him on the chest with a hard object.

He then stole some clothing from the home and ran away.

When the deceased’s son arrived home and found his father dead, he reported the matter to police who immediately opened a case of murder and robbery.

A man hunt began for Khulu, who upon hearing that place were looking for him, ran away. The clothes he had stolen were found in his home. After an extensive search, police found Khulu hiding in the hills.

He was arrested and charged for murder. He was found guilty and convicted of one life sentence for murder and 15 years for robbery.

Station Commander, Major Ntanda, commended the investigation officers, Detective W/O CAM Nyembe and Detective W/O AS Mgabhi who investigated the case and made sure the criminal was  brought to book, so that the community of Dannhauser can feel safer.

He also thanked community members who assisted during the manhunt for Khulu.
