Six local schools, including different teams from various sport disciplines, have acquired sport equipment through the visit of the Deputy Minister of Sport and Recreation, Gert Oosthuizen.

Mr Oosthuizen visited Thalana High School last year in September to hand over a sporting facility. According to the Principal, Mrs Mtshali, it was during that function that they requested the Minister to provide the school with sport equipment. Last Thursday the Department of Sport and Recreation SA in Gauteng handed oversport equipment for various sport disciplines to the school. Schools that benefitted included Thalana High School, Elivangeli, Mpathe, Endumeni and Dundee Primary School. Mrs Mtshali said Thalana High School was a link between the department and all other local schools.

“This shows the importance of sport in schools and in the community.” I hope this will be the pilot project that will allow players to wear their attire when they play,” said Mrs Mtshali. She encouraged learners and community members to go out and play.
