Carrying the Kilian name with honour
On March 7, Abrie Kilian, grandson of legendary rugby player and Vryheid businessman, Kwink Kilian and son of well-known chicken farmer and Vryheid businessman, Fanie Kilian, was admitted as an attorney in the High Court of South Africa, Pietermaritzburg.
STRIKINGLY disciplined, impeccably well-mannered, astoundingly astute and insightful, doting father and devoted husband, Abrie Kilian has the world at his fingertips.
Kilian is better known as a martial artist and head-coach and owner of Kilian Academy, a renowned martial arts academy in Vryheid, but his accomplishments don’t stop there.
On March 7, Abrie Kilian, grandson of legendary rugby player and Vryheid businessman, Kwink Kilian and son of well-known chicken farmer and Vryheid businessman, Fanie Kilian, was admitted as an attorney in the High Court of South Africa, Pietermaritzburg.
Kilian completed pre-primary school at Karnallie in 1986 and advanced to Vryheid Junior Primary School, where he completed grade 3 in 1989. After completing grade 7 at NRS, Kilian attended Vryheid High School, matriculating in 1998, a third generation Kilian at VHS.
Kilian completed his articles under Criminal Law Attorney, Shaheed Abdulla of Shaheed Abdulla & Co Attorneys, and banded together with fellow Boer and Vryheid High School matriculant, Adriaan Venter at Jan Adriaan Venter Attorneys.
“It was a proud moment as I sat with the utmost respect on a hard bench in the High Court,” stated Abrie’s wife on social media. “Your hard work, and dedication serves as inspiration to many and our children are blessed to have the example to live by.”
Together with his father, Fanie, wife, Dr Rochagné Kilian and son, Kristahn, he proudly calls Vryheid home.
Abrie follows in a proud lineage of Kilians, who have been in the region of Vryheid since 1838.
