Look out for this scam

THE VRYHEID SAPS have issued a warning to community members to avoid falling prey to criminals who are always on the lookout for ways to make a quick buck.

THE VRYHEID SAPS have issued a warning to community members to avoid falling prey to criminals who are always on the lookout for ways to make a quick buck.

The most recent scam to arise is one whereby a person is contacted and offered a loan of up to R10 000.

According to Captain Sheryl Venter of the SAPS, the unaware victim is then told to directly deposit a certain amount of money to a certain bank account.

“One does not pay anything when requesting a loan, you would think people know that by now,” said Captain Venter.

Community members are urged to be on the lookout for this scam, and to contact the local SAPS should they find themselves being contacted by these conmen.
