Resident forks out thousands after water-cut

FOR LOCAL resident Zama Nkosi, the recent water cuts left definite scars.

This resident who lives on South Street in town says that it came as a great shock for her and her family to find that according to their monthly water statement, they would be paying extra money for the days when the water was cut off.

“This came as a shock to us as the statement indicated that we owed R3600 for water alone. I thought this was impossible as we also have a borehole at home and often use the water there. We had a wedding at home last year and the amount we payed for water was nowhere near R3600!” said a disgruntled Zama.

When she went to launch a complaint at the municipality, Zama said that she was told that nothing could be done to sort the matter out.

“They went on to say that the only thing they could do was break the total up to make it easier for us to pay in monthly installments,” this resident continued in disbelief.

The AbaQulusi Municipality was contacted by the Vryheid Herald with regards to the matter but to no avail.
