Pageant ladies get to audition for ZeeTV

Apart from securing auditions for ZeeTV, the top three contestants will automatically qualify to take part in the 25th Miss India South Africa Pageant at Gold Reef City

Preparation for the Miss India NKZN pageant is on the go…

This year, contestants will be given the opportunity to audition with Zee Stars. The top three contestants in this year’s Miss India Northern KwaZulu-Natal Pageant will each win an audition with ZeeTV.

Last year, Shilpa Govan of Balfour in Mpumalanga secured a three-year contract with India’s largest channel after an all-expenses-paid trip to Mumbai for a month, where she underwent training.

Apart from securing auditions for ZeeTV, the top three contestants will automatically qualify to take part in the 25th Miss India South Africa Pageant at Gold Reef City, Gauteng, from November 28 to December 3.

“This is a great opportunity for young women between the age of 17 and 27.

“Apart from standing a chance to represent us in the Miss India Worldwide Pageant, they get an opportunity to have a career in Bollywood,” said Mrs Preetha Nanhoo, director of the national event.

She said this could be a life-changing event in the lives of those who have the talent.

“What’s more is that India-owned companies in South Africa will offer jobs to the contestants if they are interested in breaking into the business world. Each contestant will be asked for a detailed CV, which will be passed on to the companies. This takes this pageant to a new level,” said Mrs Nanhoo.

ZeeTV is promoting local talent on an unprecedented scale and it is a very special gift to the Indian community in South Africa.

She said the channel was looking for actresses to feature in soapies, presenters for their various language stations, and dancers to take part in a major competition called ‘Dance Africa Dance’.

Local promoter Mrs Vimmi Ramdaas said the contest had four sequences: an eastern, western, talent, and question & answer segment.

“This is the first time in our long history that young women get the chance to make it in Bollywood and that too through the front door. No agents, middlemen or talent scouts.

“Our contestants will travel to Johannesburg on November 28 and will be booked into the Theme Park Hotel set in the Gold Reef City complex. The very next day, they will attend the auditions and each one gets a chance to be in front of the camera.

“The tapes will be sent to India, where the ZeeTV Talent Team will study each one and choose those whom they believe have the ability,” said Vimmi.

The pageant will be held at the ML Sultan School Hall on August 13.
