As part of our new Throwback Thursday feature, we will be looking back at what made news in the Courier, ten years ago.

Front page news was a shocking story about over 900 school children who fell sick after eating food they received through a feeding scheme.

The food was delivered to over 100 Northern KwaZulu-Natal schools.

Umzinyathi District Municipality hasn’t changed much in 10 years. The municipality had a deficit of R13 million when they presented their draft budget. This led to an increase in water and sanitation tariffs.
