Dagga recovered – two arrested

The street value for all the dagga seized is estimated to be around R50 000

Wembezi police arrested a 21-year-old man in Wembezi, D-Section for the possession of dagga on Thursday night.

During stop-and-search operations being conducted in the area, the suspect was found in possession of a small parcel of dagga weighing a few grams.

The suspect appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 29. While in the Amangwe area, a 46-year-old man was arrested during the early hours of Thursday morning after he was found in possession of 34.1kg of dagga.

He appeared briefly in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court the same day where he was granted R1 000 bail.  He is set to appear again in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on May 23.

The man was arrested in the Enyezane area of Amangwe. The street value for all the dagga seized is estimated to be around R50 000.
