An horrific head on collision about 20km outside of Vryheid resulted in the tragic death of two women from Richard’s Bay.
The carnage occurred yesterday morning, shortly before noon, on the R34 Melmoth road.
Although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, it is believed that the driver of the truck had swerved to avoid a pothole sand lost control of his vehicle, subsequently slamming into the vehicle, killing both occupants on impact.
According to medical personnel at the scene, the jaws of life had to be used to extract the bodies of deceased from the mangled wreckage in a very difficult recovery.
