Update: Mother-in-law, daughter-in-law granted bail
Charges have been laid by Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality
Two women charged with fraud were granted bail in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday).
The 42-year-old (daughter-in-law) stood before the magistrate in A-court, in connection with alleged fraud in a case involving over a million rand. Charges have been laid against her by Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality.
She was granted bail of R50,000 and will appear in court on August 2.
The 42-year-old also faces a second charge of fraud, together with her 62-year-old mother-in-law. Both women stand accused of defrauding an insurance company of a large amount of money.
R3000 bail each was granted on this charge, and the women will appear in court on June 29.
The identity of both the daughter-in-law and mother-in-law is known by the Ladysmith Gazette. However, until they formally make a plea, their names cannot be mentioned.
